The Herzen University Institute of Oriental Studies was founded in 2018. It runs
academic programmes in linguistics (in the Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Arabic
languages). Plans are underway to design and open new programmes in the
teaching of Oriental languages and cultures.
During the course of their studies, most of our students do an internship in the country where the language they are learning is spoken.
Our graduates work in Russian and international companies as translators. They also find employment in the mass media or in travel agencies.
