The QS World University Rankings are compiled annually on the basis of a survey among a large number of academics and a study among employers. This year, a total of 1,673 institutions of higher education from all over the world provided data for the ranking, and 48 Russian universities were finally included in the main list. In the ranking of the best universities, Herzen University is in the 1001 to 1200 range and is thus among the top 77 percent of the world’s institutions of higher education.

Alongside the general ranking, QS also publishes a number of rankings by subject and other indicators. According to the indicator assessing the share of international students, Herzen University is rated 321st among the world's higher educational institutions, which is the highest current position for our university.

Rector Sergey Bogdanov congratulated Herzen University’s faculty and staff:

“The achievement of Herzen University in increasing its attractiveness at the international level is based primarily on the quality of our educational programmes and research, our close links with various educational organizations, and the feedback we receive from the community. The result is significant not merely for our university. It would have been impossible to achieve without the high educational standard of the Russian Federation, ensuring the quality of pedagogical education. The inclusion of Herzen University in the global QS World University Rankings is recognition of the quality of Russian pedagogical education by the world’s academic community. We are pleased with the high indicators across a range of rating criteria, but we also see possible points of growth. This defines the challenges that the university will face. We will definitely strive to strengthen our position in the global educational community.
