A Soviet scholar and economist, a Doctor of Economics, a professor and an Honoured Scholar of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. One of the first in his country to study the problems of market economics in developed and developing countries, he wrote over 200 works on previously unexplored issues, which, when translated into many foreign languages, made his name known to the world’s academic community. He was the founder and, for twenty years, head of the Department of the Economics of Modern Capitalism at Leningrad State University.
